Participate in your spiritual community – volunteer opportunities for service and growth.
There are lots of ways to participate in Unity of St. Petersburg. Get started by speaking with an usher, Connection Team or inquire at our bookstore. You may also contact us through this website or call 727-344-1515. We’ll make sure your inquiry gets to the right person in a timely manner.
Volunteer on a Ministry Team
Ministry Teams carry out Unity of St.Petersburg’s many spiritual growth programs and activities. Ministry Teams include ministry areas led by church members and supported by volunteers as well as volunteer-led teams. Contact our church office for more information.
Here is the list of our volunteer ministry teams:
Individual volunteers provide support and back-up for our AV director on Sunday mornings — Being a Zoom co-host, running PowerPoint slides on Zoom, recording the service, monitoring sound, etc. AV experience is a plus; interest and ability to learn AV skills, a must!
Our Bookstore provides resources for spiritual study and growth that support the Unity of St.Petersburg’s purpose and vision. Volunteers are welcome to support the Bookstore’s activities.
The Fellowship Team provides opportunities for fellowship within the congregation and support for church events with the intent to help people deepen their connection with God. Volunteers are always needed to support events with preparation, hosting, and clean-up.
Our Prayer and Healing Team is dedicated to providing prayers and opportunities for the healing of body, mind and spirit for those who are experiencing challenges in their lives. Team members also work with individuals to help them strengthen their awareness of their own healing powers.
The Kitchen Angels team members make coffee before service and ensure refreshments are available after the Sunday celebration and special events. In addition, they help set up and break down when potluck lunches are held after service.
During the year, members of the church volunteer to be a fundraising team member for an event such as a yard sale, concert, etc. Each team chooses the fundraiser, markets the fundraiser, and works at the event. The Fundraising Team’s goal is to support and supplement the tithes and offerings to the church while creating fellowship and fun for all the volunteers helping with a fundraising event.
The Music Ministry inspires and uplifts our congregation through beautiful, heartfelt spiritual music at our Sunday and holiday services and through special musical events. We welcome volunteer singers and instrumentalists and occasionally host guest musicians.
They are the first people to greet people coming into the church and helping to seat them if necessary and work closely with the Connection Team in welcoming and assisting visitors, Ushers get an accurate count of attendance and play a very visible role in the Sunday service in receiving the love offering. Holding a consciousness of gratitude and love is important while performing this function in the service. Additionally, they maintain order and assist in any kind of emergency situation.
Each member of the Connection Team serves as a Connector at a church service. Connectors are responsible for greeting new guests, offering general information to visitors (location of restrooms, water fountains, coffee and fellowship after the service). After the service s/he interacts with visitors again. If a guest repeatedly attends, they are approached regarding church membership.
Our Garden Team works diligently to maintain our garden and outside seating area with fresh flowers and plants by planting, weeding, watering and taking care of our little oasis of nature’s offerings. The garden area is a lovely place to relax before and after a service.
